A tasteful new design hotel in the Marais
Paris is famous for its small independent boutique hotels that come in different shapes and colors, from the outrageous to the modest. While most people prefer a certain style – contemporary or classic, for example – I am open-minded and like to try everything. It is not about what trend a hotel tries to follow: the secret is in the details, the overall harmony, and of course comfort.

Hotel De Neuve has only recently opened its doors and it is our obligation to check it out when there is something new on the hotel scene. Located in a historic area of the Marais, close to Saint-Paul station, it is an excellent base for visitors to discover and enjoy Paris. While the street is quiet, Marais is buzzing with life – and then the Batille quarter is just an easy stroll. Tourist sights such as Place des Vosges, the Seine and Ile Saint-Louis are all just a few minutes away, and there are excellent café choices right around the hotel.
The Marais district is a trendy part of Paris and I was expecting a trendy hotel – maybe even a bit extravagant and experimental. It is indeed a contemporary place, but the creators wanted to play it safe. The atmosphere is subdued and tranquil, with light and warm colors dominating, and a touch of purple thrown in. Round and square lines are in beautiful harmony, and the big mirror makes the room look lighter and bigger. The bathroom is really well done, it is as elegant as the rooms or the rest of the hotel.
As far as comfort goes, it is up to the highest standards. We had two doubles, and both my photographer colleague and I were delighted with it. And it all comes at a very reasonable price – if they can keep these rates, we are sure Hotel De Neuve will be a success story on the Paris boutique hotel scene.
