Hotel 53 – charming hotel in Rome
Ideally located at Barberini metro station in a small street, sights further away such as the Vatican or the Colosseum can be easily reached, while the real attractions of Rome, the Historic Center and the elegant Monti neighborhood are right around the hotel. Called 53 after the address – Cinquantatre in Italian – the famous Via Veneto, with its cafés, restaurants and luxury shops is right around the corner. The Spanish Steps, Villa Borghese gardens, Trevi Fountain or the Pantheon are 5-10 minutes away on foot.

Location is one thing, but what about the hotel? It is in a typical old Roman building, tall and weathered looking from outside, standing next to similar charming old buildings in a typical Roman street – very much like in Fellini’s Rome. Inside, however, everything is newly designed, elegant, and refined. The best feature, however, is the roof-top terrace, where breakfast is served.
All the rooms we’ve seen, varying in size, look comfortable and elegant, and are equipped with all the comfort one might need, including satellite TV, air-conditioning and a safe. We were fortunate enough to have a suite with a private terrace, so after our busy day in the city we could relax on the open air with a cold drink, looking over the rooftops of Rome. But even if you take a simpler room, it is well worth the money, and adding up everything – location, quality, friendliness and price – it is a very good value hotel which we can only recommend.
